My wife likes to tell people how before she married me I moved the stove out of my apartment to get more room to stack more books. Well, microwaves had come along by then.
However, being as how we now have thousands of books covering most house walls floor to ceiling and
in some places 6' high and several stacks thick it isn't quite so humorous now. Even though she was
a university cataloguer for 35 years. I simply tell people it's obvious she married me for my good books.
Right now I'm short about
200 lineal feet of shelf space.
Obsessive/Compulsive? Nah... who has the time for that? Input, we need input. 2-4 feet of new/old books and journals a month is about normal
for us. After I'm gone she'll be selling things on eBay for years.
I've collected maybe 20,000 books,
tools, artefacts and coins the last
forty years. If we both fall off the twig at once I seriously pity our executors. Really.
