Note to self:

Do not write long, ranting post pondering the nuances of book fairs when one needs to pack books for an event *sigh*. See you in Great Barrington...it looks like it will be a great event with a great collection of dealers. Stop by my booth...there will be small rewards for anyone who mentions the blog *laughing*.

What's the best way to get a musty smell out of an old book?

Well, there are many ways to try...but I tend to start with a very simple one. Get a nice sized box, stand the book(s) in it fanned a bit open. Place a shallow bowl (pasta bowls work well) with a few cups of Tidy Cat Mulitple Cat litter in it (N.B. use the "multiple cat" type...it genuinely works better). Close the box and let it sit there of x amount of time (a week or two often works...but I've experimented longer with considerable success).

9 out of 10 times, this has worked wonders. Good luck.
