Short update…it is late and hypothetically I’ve exceeded my alcohol consumption of the past several months in the aggregate (unclear if this is a good or bad thing…). Setup finished up nicely. The booth looks pretty good (as good as it can without Suzanne’s eye and touch). The crowd was steady but seemed off a touch… That said, there were a fair number of people and they were buying books…this is good.
The day radically improved in the evening. I went out to dinner with Ernie Hilbert (Bauman Books), Sunday and Josh (B&B Books), and Jeff Bergman (Jeff Bergman Rare Books). We went to the wildly conveniently located Morton’s Steakhouse. The five of us did serious damage to a cow and quite a bit of sea food…and a few bottles of wine…and some other things in glasses. Funny stories, much laughter, a genuinely great evening. I love my friends (even if they do wish death on others…perhaps because of it…).
- Close to the end of the evening-Sunday and Ernie
- Jeff Bergman – The Godfather
- Sunday and I split a chocolate souffle…shown here split across the table. Yum.
- My filet. Credit where it is due, the steak was simply perfect.
- Ernie making certain the wine would not injure us.
- Jeff’s appetizer, a raw tuna salad. Lovely presentation.
- Lump crab cocktail. Very, very good.
- Kevin Mallory waiting for the action to start…
- Lorne Blair guarding his booth…
- Tad Runge the rug guru from Maine (across the aisle from me…sadly, I more of him in Baltimore…
- Sunday and Denise in their merged booth (B&B Books and D&D Books)
- Joe Maynard working hard as the day gears up…
- Brian Cassidy in his booth looking cool…
- Finished booth-inexplicably long setup…but the result is pleasing.
