A System of Surgery: Pathological Diagnostic, Therapeutic, and Operative [complete in two volumes].

Philadelphia, PA: Henry C. Lea, 1872. Fifth Edition - Greatly Enlarged and Thoroughly Revised. Hardcover. "Illustrated by Upwards of Fourteen Hundred Engravings."
An interesting copy, clearly a 'core volume' of a physican's practice. Tipped in at the front and back of both volumes are contract terms and procedure documents from Aetna, Northwestern Masonic Aid Association, and Traveler's Insurance companies. At rfep of V2 are mms notes titled "Directions for Post Mortem" (noting source). Overall, a handsome and interesting set. Very Good. Light/moderate shelf/edge wear, tips through, light rubbing (focused at head and tail), discrete mss notations, portrait tipped in at verso of ffep facing title page, numerous tipped in contract information (see below), ownership signature at ffep, else tight, bright, and unmarred. Full brown leather spine, three raised bands, black leather spine labels, gilt lettering. Small 4to. 1098; 1170pp. Illus. (b/w plates). Index. Item #10834
