Applegate, CA: Esoteric Publishing Co. ; Applegate Publishing Co., 1920. Twenty-third Edition. Hardcover. First published in 1887, Solar Biology simplified astrology by basing horoscopes on the sun and moon signs rather than complex planetary movements by radically simplifing a version of astrology during the 19th century. In the text, Butler divided humans into twelve archetypes based on their natal sun sign. The planets are also used, but only the sign they occupy is important; the correspondent angles between them are ignored. This makes it easy to create a horoscope, as the time and place of birth are no longer required. The tricky computation of the rising signs and houses is skipped. From this, identification certain health issues and general wellness can be determined depending on your horoscope and relationship to the Sun. Very Good+. Slightly shaken, mild scuffing to boards and toning to pages, bumped corners, otherwise tight, bright, and unmarred. Dark green cloth with gold titling/decorative elements on spine and boards. xiic, 218pp + illus., frontispiece, charts, ephemeris. Editor and author's preface. Item #11294
