The Black Hole of Guyana: The Untold Story of the Jonestown Masacre [Typescript].

Washington DC: Jonestown Research Project, 1985. Reprint. Photocopied from a hand-corrected early draft, in contemporary grey fold- er. Separated into two paperclipped packets: the text itself, and the sources / notes. Both are somewhat oddly printed, with a few pages printed on versos of incorrect rectos, though the text appears to be a complete, if shorter, early draft of the piece which would cement Judge as an important dissenting voice in the historicization of the Jonestown massacre. In 1985, John Judge (1948–2014) published an extensive account of the Peoples Temple movement and the deaths in Jonestown. Judge was well known for his alternative theories to traditional histories. The Black Hole of Guyana offered the deepest and most comprehensive analysis of several of these theories, and Judge made an effort to document links between the Jonestown tragedy and earlier seemingly-unrelated government plots.--SDSU. Very Good+. Light toning and scattered foxing, else very good. Loose photocopied sheets in two sets, plus folder. Typescripts. 15pp., 17pp. Item #13941
