Richly illustrated by some of the greats of the period including, but not limited to, Ipsen, Darley, Schell, Moran, etc. (BAL 12578). Rebound in a fine binding that preserves the original marbled endpages. Includes four pages of fascimile reproductions of "Subscribers" that is a "who's who" of period notables (e.g. FOC Darley, Thomas Bailey Aldrich, Henry Ward Beecher, Cyrus W. Field, Jr., Henry G. Parker and many others) and a blank leaf for "new" subscribers. From the library of (and showing the embossment of) noted poet Lewis P. Turco. Overall, a handsome copy of a rather uncommon volume.
