Tender Bottoms: A Psychosexual Study in Morals Based on Personal Experiences and Documentary Evidence.

New York: American Ethnological Press / Privately Printed, 1934. First Edition. Hardcover. Pierre Guénolé was a French publisher, author, and illustrator of spanking and flagellation novels in the early 20th century. He was one of the pioneers of the "golden age" of early 20th century French spanking literature. He also produced this pseudo-scientific book, Tender Bottoms: A Psycho-sexual Study... The illustrations are unsigned and from various sources, though some were definitely illustrated by Pierre Guénolé. There were also variant bindings for this book and whether they were issued at the same time or later is unclear. It is possible there was a 'less expensive' version of the binding at time of issue, but there is not, at first blush, any record definitively establishing history. Fine in Poor DJ. Tight, right, and unmarred; remains of glassine DJ. Black cloth boards, white paper front board, white lettering at spine, black ink lettering and decorative elements, frontispiece. 8vo. 180pp. Illus. (b/w plates). Item #10111
