Former owner Dr. Jacob Hirsch stamp on title. Born in Munich, Hirsch was an expert in numismatics and classical art, and a dealer in archeological and other objects. He was a naturalized Swiss citizen since 1925, and lived in the United States from 1939. He had businesses in New York, Switzerland (ARS Classica) and Paris. Hirsch died in Paris, and sales of his collection and library were held in Lucerne in 1957. Very Good+. Tight, bright and unmarred. Well worn boards, rubbing/loss on spine, minor foxing, otherwise clean. Full calf with blind stamping, stamped device, raised bands with marble endpapers. 580 pp, illus., index. Item #11091
