Title vignette (Printer's device) Head and tail pieces. Antonius Gryphius 1527-1599, printer. The printer's device of Antonius Gryphius (1527-1599) features the griffin (a mythological symbol of diligence), an allusion to his name, and follows the basic design of the image used by Sebastianus Gryphius (1493-1556). Ex libris of Rev. Dr. Charles Carroll Albertson who was the son of Benjamin F. and Martha Elma (Bowman) Albertson. Rev. Albertson was a minister in the Methodist Episcopal Church: North Indiana Conference 1889 F1892 Erie Conference by transfer 1892 Genesee (Western New York/now Upper New York) Conference by transfer 1895 Philadelphia Conference by transfer 1899 Located own request. In 1904 he withdrew from the ministry and membership of the Methodist Episcopal Church and entered the ministry of the Presbyterian Church. Second ex-libris gifted from Dr. Albertson to John Underwood Stephens. (Brooklyn, New York, March 27, 1901--?). Presbyterian.
