"Salem 1692" witch postcard.

Salem, MA: G. Willis Whipple, c.1903. First Edition. Postcard. Starting in the late 19th century, the image of the witch became synonymous with advertising in Salem, Mass. for both tourism and historical education. Both illustrations feature the 'classic' and costume style of an old witch on a broomstick and with a cauldron and a black cat.
Postcard shows copyright date of 1903. Postmarked in Salem, Mass. with handwritten note. Very scarce ephemera. Printed by well-known lithographers and printers, G. Willis Whipple & Co. Near Fine. Light chipping, else bright and unmarred. Full color postcard. Illus. (color). Item #13885
